Dog Boarding Questions:
Will my dog miss me terribly?
No - is the honest answer. Some dogs fret when you first leave but they seem to then accept their new home very quickly. They slip into their usual characters and probably don't behave any differently to the way they do at home.
Will my dog forget me if we are away a for a long time?
Even though the dogs don't miss their owners while they're gone - they are always overjoyed to see them when they return.
Do you provide food or do we bring food along with us?
We like you to provide the food for your dog so we can keep to a normal feeding routine. We will adhere to any special diets you advise us of.
Will my dog stay in a kennel?
No - definitely not! Your dog will stay in the house with our family and will only be separated from us and the other dogs at night time. They will have their own sleeping area within the house (usually the hallway or the kitchen) so they can't be disturbed by our dogs during the night.
What happens if they become ill while I am away?
We will take them to a vet of your choice and make sure they receive treatment for whatever ails them. Sometimes an arrangement can be made with the vet to allow you to pay for any treatment on your return and other times we will pay the bill and advise you of the amount owed.
How will I be charged for my dogs stay?
We will normally take a non-refundable 50% deposit on booking and then we ask for the remaining 50% on your return. We take either cash or cheques. Full rates are charged per day or part of, not per night. We allow you to bring your dogs from 7am in the morning and pick them up any time up to 11pm at night.
Dog Walking Questions:
Will my dog be walked with other dogs?
Yes - usually they are (no more than four at a time), but we can do individual walks on request. Most dogs enjoy walking with other dogs. It gives them someone to play with and they tend to excercise more if they have other dogs to run around with. Obviously, this doesn't always work for every dog. We can discuss individual dogs needs and tailor a routine to fit them.
Do I have to book a full week at a time?
No. We will walk your dog on days specified by you. If that is only one day a week then thats fine. If you just want us to be available for last minute walks when you have to be out all day - thats fine also.
Will I have to give you my key?
If you want us to walk the dog while you are out then yes. We have been dog walking since 2004 and, as the testimonials say, we are very trustworthy and honest. We also find that we get phone calls from time to time when dog owners have locked themselves out! Having a spare key with us has proved invaluable at times.
Will my dog be very dirty when let back into the house?
Owners usually leave towels by the door and we try to clean the dirt off to the best of our ability.
